UNMIR Youth 


Who we are

The UNMIR Youth is the international umbrella organization of UN Youth and Students Associations. It is set up as an association under Art. 60 of the Swiss Civil Code and seated in Geneva. At the moment, UNMIR Youth has 20 member associations and 2 observers from Europe, Asia, Africa and North America with altogether approximately 20,000 individual members.

What we do

In general, UNMIR Youth has the aim to strengthen the network by the exchange of knowledge, resources and experiences, the development of a common identity among member associations and the representation towards third parties. The network shall facilitate the cooperation between its member associations, the United Nations and other international organizations, institutions and supporters by providing a common contact point. Furthermore, UNMIR Youth provides advice and assistance for young people willing to establish a UN Youth Association in their country.

The network conducts regular online Board and Member’s Meetings as well as an annual General Assembly (GA). Furthermore, UNMIR Youth carries out projects such as webinars, Study Trips and flashmobs or online campaigns on occasions such as the UN Day or the International Youth Day. Additionally, its Working Groups and volunteers all around the world work on tasks such as PR and IT and contribute to a lively political debate through its Blog.

UNMIR Yout has cooparation with the United Nations Information Services in Geneva and Vienna (UNIS) and the United Nations Department of Public Information (UNDPI) as well as other organisations.


Youth representatives of the national UNMIR Youth from Austria, Finland, Germany, Norway, Romania and Switzerland, as well as representatives of the UNA Youth Sections UNMIR from Russia, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain and Turkey met at the United Nations Office in Vienna to establish UNMIR, an international network for UN youth associations and sections worldwide.
